According to community officials in Durham, at least 20 raids occurred within a 24-hour period, resulting in multiple detentions, including at least four people confirmed by county leadership. School attendance data is also drawing attention. Following a spike in absences reported in Charlotte on Monday, questions have been raised about whether similar patterns emerged in Wake County schools during the second day of operations. Education officials have not yet released updated figures.
As enforcement efforts enter another day, federal agencies have not provided arrest totals from the Triangle’s first operation window. However, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security confirmed that more than 200 individuals believed to be in the U.S. without legal status were arrested in the Charlotte area during the first three days of the ongoing initiative, known as “Operation Charlotte’s Web.”
Protests unfolded across downtown Raleigh on Tuesday night, with additional demonstrations in Durham. Although tensions were high, local police confirmed there were no protest-related arrests.
