The Mississippi Clean Fuels Coalition (MCFC) will organize a Clean Transportation Showcase in Tupelo, Mississippi, on Wednesday, November 5. The open-to-all event will run from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Farmers Market at the Depot, where visitors can explore a range of alternative-fueled vehicles and learn how clean fuel technology is transforming local communities across the Magnolia State.
About the Mississippi Clean Fuels Coalition
The MCFC operates under the leadership of Mississippi State University’s Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS). It brings together a diverse network of public and private partners with one shared mission — to encourage energy independence and expand the use of alternative fuels across Mississippi.
In fall 2024, the coalition achieved national recognition by being designated as an apprentice organization within the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities and Communities Program, strengthening its role in advancing clean energy initiatives.
What the Showcase Aims to Highlight
Angela Card, a Senior Research Engineer at CAVS and Acting Director of the MCFC, said the event will demonstrate how clean energy solutions are already making an impact.
“By presenting real-world examples of vehicles powered by electricity, propane, and other sustainable fuels, we’re showing communities the performance, cost, and environmental advantages these technologies can offer,” Card explained.
Attendees will be able to explore different alternative-fueled vehicles, discuss technology benefits, and learn how clean fuels are contributing to economic growth, pollution reduction, and community resilience.
Coalition’s Core Goals
The Mississippi Clean Fuels Coalition focuses on several long-term objectives:
- Reducing dependence on foreign petroleum and promoting domestic energy sources.
- Expanding the market for alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and advanced automotive technologies.
- Improving air quality by encouraging the adoption of cleaner fuels.
- Creating new economic opportunities through innovation in the clean transportation sector.
Through these initiatives, the coalition hopes to position Mississippi as a leader in sustainable mobility and green innovation.
